Once a week for several years now, I have looked forward to the weekly photo challenge hosted by the Daily Post at Word Press. Their weekly theme prompts me to view my collection of photos with a new eye as I try to find what I think best represents the challenge. Sadly, this is the last week of a challenge which has been a constant source of inspiration for me. It’s not that I can’t come up with photos on my own (and I will!), but it’s been such a delight to see how others interrupt the same prompt. Their response usually puts forth a new and different way of looking at things, not to mention some pretty amazing photography and wonderful new blogs to follow! I shall miss it! In this final week, we have been asked to share one of our All-Time Favorites.
I don’t know what it is about this photo—perhaps the colors, the toes, the wisp of hair across her face, or maybe the innocence—but it will forever be one of my all-time favorites!

Awkward, isn’t it—observing the ploy?
You watch as she ponders how to reach him,
you can see she isn’t sure which way to go.
Patiently, she follows silent clues
… this way to his heart
… that way to his soul.
Finally, she’s certain she has caught him
but sadly you perceive that
he doesn’t even know she is there.
My response to today’s one-word prompt: Awkward

While touring Ireland a year ago, we had ample opportunity to sample a variety of liquid refreshment! Local pubs are the heart and soul of the Emerald Isle. Our favorite “pub” experience was at a corner bar in Galway; not so much for the beer, but for the sweetest little old man we encountered there. He was in town that day for a doctor’s appointment and had stopped by his favorite pub for a pint of Guinness before heading home. He clearly enjoyed telling us all about himself and even circled a spot on our map to show us where he was from. You can get a drink anywhere, but the people you share one with make the memories special!

My place in this world has changed many times over the years. Growing up, my place was in my room. It’s where I’d go when I wanted to be alone or to do my homework or where I was sent when I was in trouble! After the birth of my daughter, my place was by her side providing constant care and an abundance of love until I realized she needed her own place too, which was – at times – without me. These days, my place in this world seems to be outdoors! I especially enjoy time by the creek on a sunny day when I can see the reflection of sky on water. Right now, my place is appropriately here–somewhere between heaven and earth!

It seemed unlikely that anything would spoil this beautiful shot of Helsinki’s Lutheran Church at Senate Square, but suddenly, there he was… out of nowhere! Silly bird chose this exact moment to cross my path!
