Today washed away
like sand beneath my feet
when waves roll out to sea.
I’m lead by breezes
toward the midnight hour
where the silence of night
allows me to dream;
then dreams like a river flow…
a river that seeks the sea…
a sea that returns me to shore…
where the day washes away
like sand beneath my feet.
Time drifts on.

The poem captures not just the reality of time passing but it’s looping, repetitive meander as it tirelessly teases us forwards. The photo is spectacular. No wonder Kiwis are so proud of their landscape ….

Oh good! That’s what I was going for… the revolving elements of time. Repetition isn’t always boring! Thanks for the lovely comment.

I love the soothing rhythm of the poem, like standing on the shore, the water lapping around my feet, continuous, even flow.

Absolutely loved this write. Your words made me feel like the water rushing in and out between my toes. The slow flow of out and slowly back again. Just lovely!
