D. G. Yuengling & Sons, established in 1829 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, is America’s oldest operating brewery. Whether you’re a beer drinker or not, a free tour of this historic family business is fascinating. The picture above shows the stained-glass ceiling which was installed in the kettle room to reduce the reflection off the brew kettles; and adorning the walls, murals depict workers from the past. Go for the history and stay for the beer, or go for the beer and stay for the history – either way, it’s great fun!
On my list to check out the next time I visit my sister in Philly!

I think you would enjoy it! An underground cave is part of the tour, and of course, the tasting room.
PS – I will be putting Granville Island on MY bucket list!

Beautiful! So many places look so industrial, but this is a lovely change of scenery.

This place had a real vintage charm to it – not modern industrial at all. A pleasant experience!

We toured the Budweiser plant in Ft. Collins, CO once. I found it fascinating, although seeing the Clydesdales up close was the real highlight for me!

Oh, I’ll bet! We saw the Clydesdales at their breeding and training farm in Missouri several years ago. It was awesome!

No beer for me, but it looks like an inviting place to visit. I love museums and other historical places.

Thanks for commenting! By the way, they make ice cream too, so it’s available in the tasting room instead of beer!
