The Piano in 99 Words

I remember wanting to play the piano simply because my mother did. I would listen while she played and long to lose myself in music just like she did. So, I taught myself to play by stumbling through her impressive collection of popular sheet music. Like clockwork, I would practice every day after school because the moment my father got home from work, our television was on for the night. One day he came home early and found me playing “In the Still of the Night.” He listened, then he said “Bravo! When did you learn to do that?”

  1. As humans, we have a deep connection to music, and there’s something magical about the sound of the piano that speaks to us in ways other instruments can’t.
